Youngest Players at FIFA WORLD CUP 2022: The excitement about the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the biggest event of the sport will soon reach a fever pitch. Most of the world’s best players will be present at the tournament and there is a whole range of emotions attached to the event.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be bitter for some of the sport’s stalwarts, who may play on football’s biggest stage for the last time in their careers. For example, this is likely to be the last World Cup for the goat of the game like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
This will also be the first time that a large number of players will step onto the big stage. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the five youngest players in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
#5 Bilal El Khannouss (Morocco) – 10 May 2004 (age 18 years)
Morocco has included 18-year-old Bilal El Khanous in the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad. He became the talk of the town in Belgium thanks to his outstanding performances for Racing Genk. El Khanous had the option of representing Belgium over Morocco but decided to go with Morocco.
The 18-year-old has been in Genk since the age of 14 and has represented Belgium at under15 and under16 levels. In 16 appearances in all competitions so far for Racing Genk in the 2022–23 season, the attacking midfielder has provided an assist.
#4 Jewison Bennette (Costa Rica) – 15 June 2004 (age 18 years)
Costa Rica has a lot of talented young players in its team and Juson Bennett is the main one. The 18-year-old winger was instrumental in helping Costa Rica get 19 out of a possible 21 points from their last seven World Cup qualifiers.
This helped them earn an intercontinental playoff spot where they eventually beat New Zealand 1–0. Bennett currently plays for Sunderland in the championship. He has scored three goals and provided one assist in 16 matches in all competitions so far this season.
In seven appearances in all competitions for Costa Rica so far in his career, the teenager has scored two goals and provided two assists.
#3 Gavi (Spain) – 5 August 2004 (age 18 years)
Australia have named their 26-man squad and 18-year-old Garang Kuol is the youngest player on their roster. Interestingly, Kuol has yet to start a league match in his senior football career and is an unknown commodity to go into the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Kuol will join Premier League side Newcastle United in January 2022 and has impressed with some performances off the bench for his current team, the Central Coast Mariners. He has played a total of 12 league matches off the bench and received his first call-up to the Australian international team in September.
He earned his first cap for the Australian team in a friendly match against New Zealand (25 September). Socceros coach Graham Arnold believes Kuol could be a breakout star at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
#2 Garang Kuol (Australia) – 15 September 2004 (age 18 years)

#1 Youssoufa Moukoko (Germany) – 20 November 2004 (age 17 years)
Youssoufa Moukoko is having a breakout season and has already garnered interest from top European clubs. The teenager has been in sensational form this time around and has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s best players in this campaign so far.
He has scored six goals in 22 appearances and provided four assists in all competitions for Dortmund so far this stint. The fact that he has started only 11 of those games makes his numbers all the more impressive.
Maukoko will try to make his debut for the German national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
